Reopening FAQ

Last updated on July 13, 2021

When will the Carpenter Center reopen?

While we can’t wait to invite you back into our theatre, our reopening depends on a continued reduction of COVID-19 infections in our community, and on the decisions and guidance from state, county, city, and campus health officials and leaders. In addition, our first priority continues to be the health and safety of our community, our patrons, our artists, crew, staff, and volunteers. Once we’ve received reopening guidance by the state, county, city, and University—as well as additional health guidance and rules from Cal/OSHA—we’ll be able to announce artists and performance dates for our anticipated reopening this Fall 2021.

How are you preparing for reopening?

Plexiglass partitions have been installed at all our counters in our lobby, alongside new signage and sanitation stations. On our stage, we’ve made upgrades to our Cabaret seating to enhance health and safety. Given the latest scientific consensus that COVID-19 is spread mostly by airborne transmission, we’ve also upgraded our air filtration systems throughout the Center.

Who will be performing at the Carpenter Center when you reopen?

From the day we closed our doors in March 2020, we’ve been working with artists who were unable to perform due to COVID-19 restrictions. We’ve discussed alternate performance seasons, and have showcased and promoted artists through virtual performances. We are actively planning to bring many of your favorite artists back when we reopen, as well as thrilling new discoveries to enlighten and entertain you. How can I help?

Throughout our closure, our staff have been working from home, staying in contact with our patrons, and preparing for reopening. Thank you for your support throughout this time. If you would like to make a donation to the Carpenter Center, you may do so here on our website. To join our team of volunteers, please sign up to express your interest.
