Employment Opportunities at the Carpenter Center

Ushers (Part-time)

Every event at the Carpenter Center that has an audience requires the services of our Front-of-House team to ensure the safety and comfort of every patron.

Carpenter Center ushers are an essential element of the team. The professionalism, positive attitude and SMILE that patrons experience from our ushers will be the first and last moment of their Carpenter Center experience. Our ushers are Carpenter Center ambassadors: their kindness and patience with our patrons makes all the difference.

The Carpenter Center has a vibrant guild of volunteers, people who donate their time and talents, helping the Carpenter Center with ushering, clerical support, mailings, and special events. Click here for more information on volunteering.

The Carpenter Center also employs ushers, primarily students, who perform more strenuous tasks required by the House Manager. Paid ushers do not sit during performances, and will be required to move tables, chairs and stanchions for receptions, concessions, etc.

Ushers receive a starting wage of $8.00 per hour; most shifts last between four and six hours. As ushers select the shifts they are willing to work, the job is perfect for students.

The Carpenter Center accepts applications for Usher Positions throughout the year, but most hiring is done in early autumn. Please call 562.985.4274 for more information or download the attached application and return it to the Carpenter Center in person Monday through Friday from 9-5.
